HungerWalk 2017 Tucson

Saturday, September 23, 7:00 AM

The Community Food Bank’s signature event, HungerWalk, Saturday, September 23 at the Kino Sports Complex in Tucson, brings together like-minded community members to raise funds and awareness for the fight against hunger. It’s bigger and better this year, with more activities for the whole family. Come support a great cause, get some exercise and learn more about the work that we do together for our community. With your generous support, we’ll be that much closer to reaching our goal of $230,000 to help close the hunger gap!

Can we count on YOUR SUPPORT this year?

  • Share in our vision of a healthy, hunger-free community and be the help that thousands of families, children, seniors, and veterans need to make ends meet.
  • Align heart and health in support of an issue that affects thousands in our community.
  • There’s positive power in walking both for health and for strengthening our community, connecting people of all backgrounds to make an impact on hunger

Be part of the Community Food Bank's biggest event of the year!

Marana Walkers - Get on the Bus!
For anyone from Marana joining the Tucson location of the HungerWalk, we'll again have a bus this year to take you from Marana to the walk location in Tucson, and back to Marana when it's done. Seating is limited, so if you're interested, please email Linda Hampton as soon as possible to reserve your seat.

Who will YOU walk for?

Jocelyn is only eight years old, but she knows what it’s like to worry about where her next meal will come from. She is used to being hungry at school and going home to empty cabinets. But with the help of our Child Nutrition Programs, Jocelyn receives healthy meals and snacks and has a healthy future ahead of her.

Reyna, a single mom to three young kids, knows her family should be eating better. But on a limited budget and with no grocery stores nearby, it’s a struggle just to keep them fed. Now, Reyna brings her kids to the Community Food Bank every week to pick up fresh produce and play in the garden.

Ron, a disabled senior, is one of over 200,000 people who benefitted from our emergency food services last year. With his health declining and no family around to help him, Ron relies on SNAP benefits (formerly Food Stamps) and our emergency food program to make ends meet.

Where is the event?

The Tucson HungerWalk will start and end at the Sam Lena Recreation Area, part of the Kino Sports Center Complex, North West of the intersection of Ajo and South Country Club. The route will take you through the Community Food Bank warehouse.

Where should I park?

Parking is available on either side of the Mulcahy YMCA, the Kino Service Center, the Adult Probation Office and the Kino Sports Complex South of Ajo. We highly encourage carpooling!

How far is the walk? Is it a race? Do I have to walk the whole route?

The 1.5 mile walk is not a race. The family-friendly route includes a visit to our distribution warehouse — so you can see first-hand where donations come in, get sorted, and go right back out the door to feed our neighbors in need. Mid-route, you'll have a chance to cool-off indoors and learn more about how we serve the community — thanks to your support. We recommend you walk the entire loop route.

Can I bring my ...
