Volunteer to Help Stamp Out Hunger!

We are still in urgent need of volunteers for our biggest food drive of the year this coming Saturday May 13th. You can sign up to help sort and collect food at local post offices at https://volunteer.communityfoodbank.org or email us at volunteer@communityfoodbank.org.

Volunteers are important in this huge effort; letter carriers also play a key role. Six days a week your letter carriers deliver and pick up mail in your neighborhood. Every year on the second Saturday in May, their jobs look a little different, as they pick up food donations as well. You can be a part of the biggest food drive of the year by putting together a bag of food and leaving it by your mailbox before your regular mail delivery time. Your letter carrier will pick it up!

The National Association of Letter Carriers Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is the nation’s largest all volunteer one-day food collection effort, and will bring in more than a billion pounds of food across the country.

We welcome these donations going into the challenging summer months when the number of volunteers and donations decline.

Some volunteers return every year to help this enormous effort in Tucson, Green Valley and Nogales. Groups like The South Tucson Lions Club say it’s a great opportunity to work together.

“It is also a function we can have our family members/friends help with even if they are not Lions. We did this last year and thought it was a great project to continue to help the Community Food Bank serve our community,“ says Evelyn Jacobs, Service Chairperson.

It’s not too late to sign up! Come join hundreds of volunteers working hard to bring in thousands of pounds of food this Saturday!
