About Public School Advocacy

Advocating for Healthy Futures

We believe in the power of healthy foods in our public schools. Our advocacy initiatives work to ensure that schools and students have the support they need.

Community Eligibility Provision (CEP)

In partnership with the Arizona Association of Food Banks (AAFB), CFB engages school districts who are eligible for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). CEP is a USDA special assistance provision program that provides free breakfast and lunch to all students regardless of income level. It eliminates the need for schools to collect household income applications to determine free and reduced eligibility for families and ensures every student has access to free breakfast and lunch during the school day.

School Breakfast

The Community Food Bank partners with the AAFB to conduct outreach with schools in Southern Arizona who currently have no school breakfast program or have low school breakfast participation. We works with schools to overcome barriers associated with running the School Breakfast Program by providing resources for alternative breakfast models and working with stakeholders to educate them on the importance of school breakfast for children.
