Desert Drifter September Charity Coffee: the Mesquite Caramel Latte

We are so excited to be September’s Charity Coffee by Desert Drifter: the Mesquite Caramel Latte!

This delicious drink features a Mesquite Honey Caramel sauce made by Tucson Chocolate Factory, LLC, and it was inspired by our SOMBRA program, which is working to address shade inequity around Southern Arizona.

Even better, all profits from the Mesquite Caramel Latte sold in September will support the Community Food Bank’s mission to provide meals and so much more to our communities. ❤️

So what exactly is SOMBRA?

🌱 SOMBRA (Sonoran Mesquite Barrio Restoration Alliance) was launched to help address Tucson’s extreme heat and food insecurity by planting mesquite trees in “shade deserts,” urban neighborhoods that have historically lacked access to shade, particularly south of 22nd Street.

🌳 The goal? 20,000 mesquite trees by 2030.

The work began nearly four years ago with funding from a state grant through the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management and continues today with support from a growing network of partners.

Every tree planted helps create more shade, strengthen our urban environment, and build a healthier, more resilient community.🌳☀️
