Food is a human right.
Right now, grocery prices remain out of reach for many families, fueling the highest levels of food insecurity we’ve seen in over a decade.
Too many of our neighbors, including children, veterans, seniors, and people with disabilities will feel the impacts of the most recent budget reconciliation law that made drastic cuts to SNAP by changing the funding model, increasing age limits and expanding work requirements.
We all know that federal nutrition programs are essential lifelines that help families put food on the table and keep communities strong. Lawmakers will soon return from August recess to Congress and will need to quickly pivot to passing FY26 Budget Appropriations and the Farm Bill.

Together, we can push for a Farm Bill that prioritizes access to nutritious food for everyone.
As constituents and advocates, we are calling on Congress to:
- Increase funding for The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) to keep shelves stocked with fresh, nutritious, U.S.-grown food.
- Strengthen the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) so older adults can age with dignity and stability.
- Invest in the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) to support Native and Tribal communities with reliable access to healthy food.
Food is not a luxury—it is a basic human need and right. By speaking up together, we can ensure our communities have the resources to thrive.

When you sign the Feeding America letter, it will automatically be delivered to your lawmakers.
