Why Our Farm & Garden Programs Matter
Our Farm & Garden programs open the door for anyone to grow, by offering welcoming spaces, hands-on education, and the resources to get started. We believe growing food isn’t a privilege; it’s something everyone should have access to.
Growing your own food is about more than saving money or eating well. It’s about reconnecting with the land, honoring where you come from, and building meaningful connections with those around you.
For many of our neighbors, access to fresh, healthy food isn’t guaranteed. Rising costs, limited transportation, and systemic barriers make it harder to consistently put nutritious meals on the table. Our Farm & Garden programs are one way we’re changing that by putting the power of food production directly into the hands of the community.

Where Community Takes Root
At Las Milpitas Community Farm, you’ll find more than rows of vegetables. You’ll find families learning together, elders sharing knowledge and neighbors building relationships that go far beyond their farm plots. These spaces become places of belonging where culture, tradition, and resilience take root.

An Oasis for Learning and Growing
Through workshops, seed distributions, and hands-on support in Nuestra Tierra Learning Garden, we help people grow their own food with confidence. Whether it’s someone planting their very first tomato or a seasoned gardener expanding their skills, every step forward strengthens food security and self-reliance.

However, this work doesn’t happen on its own.
It takes soil, seeds, tools, water and most importantly, it takes community. It takes people who believe that everyone deserves the opportunity to grow, nourish their families, and feel connected to the land.
When you support our Farm & Garden programs, you’re doing more than funding a garden. You’re helping a family stretch their food budget. You’re preserving cultural food traditions. You’re creating spaces where people feel seen, supported, and empowered.
You’re helping grow something lasting.
Together, we can continue to expand these programs, reach more neighborhoods, and ensure that anyone who wants to grow food has the opportunity to do so.
Because when we grow food, we grow community.
